aesmael: (writing things down)

"Your Aspie score: 121 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 79 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie"

Test is here: http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

Incidentally, the term 'aspie' provokes in me hostility. It sounds to me like a word for a pet and I expect people can see why such an association from the mouths of strangers would repulse me. I try not to bristle when people use this term to describe themselves

I also happen to think this quiz was composed by a neurotypical person. Many of the questions were worded in such a way as to be unclear in ways I think a person who had that experience would not, In other cases, even though I thought I understood the intent of the question, it was worded such that I found it difficult to answer.

Oh, and they misspelled 'sex' repeatedly in the preliminary questions.

I have no intention of participating in the study this is related to.

And I just realised it is probably relevant that I am disinterestedly ignoring the social gathering visible three metres in front of me through a glass door.

'Aspie'...Asperger's?
And how can you misspell sex?

1) Yup

2) They wrote 'gender' instead. As in 'biological gender'.

3) I think I need to edit this entry some more.

Go to point 6 and read in here...it's quite interesting

It certainly is. Bookmarked for future reference. I still think they should have used 'gender' or 'biological sex' although now I think of it, leaving only two options would still leave people out. *sigh*

Your Aspie score: 191 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 16 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

I got as far as the question which asked for "biological gender" and then hit the close tab button. Damnit, I didn't spend time and money getting the op to be asked questions like that *mutter*

Yep. Was about that point I decided this quiz was going to be stupid in obtuse ways. Not disappointed.

OK, I did it again and persevered, and suggested that question seemed calculated to annoy trans-people in the feedback comment (I put "female", naturally). Anyway, this is what I got:

I think they have an unhealthy fascination with the word biological generally. I gave this a shot and got as far as "Did you grow up in your biological family?" and found the answers odd -- no, and this was the will of my parents/no, and this was against the will of my parents -- and then the next question, about my biological parents' income, impossible and irrelevant. That's when I closed the tab. :)

"Aspie" is just a word. I use it. I can see how it might sound like a term for a pet; but I don't want to stop using certain words just because someone else might have some associations they don't like (of course, this is different from using words generally considered offensive).

This is not only about "Aspie" - see the recent discussion (http://community.livejournal.com/metaquotes/6360423.html) on why we shouldn't use the word "moist" anymore.

We-ell, I try not to be bothered when other people use the word for themselves, since if it does not bother them it would be rather silly of me to be offended on their behalf.

::shrug:: I really do not mind if other people call themselves Aspies, but the word has bad associations for me. Possibly I will change my mind through exposure.

Sorry about the double comment; sometimes my connection breaks but LJ still posts the comment...

'S OK. It is gone now.

I got 102/105. And I closed it and I'm too lazy to answer all those questions again to post the graph. But anyway.

I personally am pretty ambivalent about aspie as a word, but then again I don't consider myself as having Asperger's (tho i perhaps suspect mild autism? I have no idea.)

But I totally see what ya mean. "Aspie" as a word is kinda cutesy.

But then again, what's the alternative? "A person with Asperger's Syndrome"? That's kinda cumbersome.

So I dunno.
