I saw that movie for the first time back in the early 70s when the Cold War was near its hottest and when I was just becoming aware of what a global nuclear war would really mean. The film frightened me so badly that I did not notice the satire and I still cannot watch it without feeling that fear.
I think that's true for anyone of that generation. It came back to me again while protesting CRUISE at Greenham Common many years later! Of course, in the middle of that episode, the film: 'When the wind blows' was released. **shiver**
