The first and last thing is, I have not done any writing today. First because the way I try to work flows on from the day previous. Last because not writing takes an entire day to be done.
Last night I did manage to get an almost proper amount of writing done. In fact, last night was the first time all month I met my writing target for that day, so perhaps there is hope for the month yet.
Broken down, since I know that is what people want to see, I wrote 64 words of my Sekrit Projekt (just the right amount again, provided I do it again tomorrow), 234 words of Discourteous Joe (net, there was some editing involved as spacetime rippled), plus 116 words transcribed for Spare Parts.
I was not expecting it but this did exceed the daily average I must now maintain if I am to reach my target by the end of the month. And it is approaching the average I was expecting to be trying for next month. But, I shall shrug and continue on my way. If I fail, that is just an opportunity to try again.
Now at least I have an idea of how the day is to finish for Joe, and some of how the next will go. I think I will place Discourteous Joe on hold for a while before writing Day 16, though. Give those thoughts time to settle and gain coherence.
Meanwhile Sekrit Projekt continues its briefly frequent way and Spare Parts is merely dictation until editing time rolls round. There are two projects I would like to bring in to replace Discourteous Joe under my directed attention: Part Three of my Epic Fantasy (these parts do actually have names, and have had for years. for now they remain hidden) and LJ (which currently lacks a proper title and therefore is known by an enigmatic abbreviation). Actually, at the beginning of the year I used to call it Serial A. Be warned, I may switch between names erratically.
And now the previous 'graph is completely off track, time for a new one! Probably I do not sufficient attention to work on both of those properly, not and maintain the two continued fictions too, so I need to decide between them. Either take Part 3 first as the final part of a finite work and finish it, or complete the currently unfinished segment of LJ first before moving on to Part 3. Currently I am leaning toward the latter as that way I get to work on both stories. Especially since Part 2 already took me most of this year to write. And then I should probably edit them or scream at them or whatever it is writers do to make their fiction publishable.
I do not know how long that will take me. Maybe three months, maybe six. May be some other number. Whatever it turns out to be, I am looking forward to finishing the story and getting it out of the way. So I should probably start thinking of what they are going to do to get out of the mess they found themselves in at the end of Part 2. So far my thoughts on the end are sketchier than either of the first two parts. Perhaps it will be surprisingly brief.
Looking further into the future things are naturally murkier. I doubt I will be able to work on Part 3 continuously, so there will probably be intervals of LJ and Discourteous Joe interspersed. And after it is done? I am still unsure if I want to write the Kays's World stories yet. Probably I will dig out Serial B and Raven Zemaire from where they have been gathering dust. Later still, hopefully my numbered tales, which I have not worked on for about six years. Unless I decide there is not really a story to tell there.
All this is probably enough writing to keep me occupied until the end of next year. I think I ought to find another finite project to work on after Epic Fantasy. It might not be a good idea to be working continuously on serial stories with no particular end in sight. There are plenty of those in waiting for me too...
Likely Kays's World if I have not done it yet. Otherwise, it looks like I will have no excuse but to attempt a novel again.
And now, now I am falling asleep. These words were intended to be a brief preface, a handful of paragraphs before beginning my account of the day. Well, they are numerous enough now to stand on their own and I am past being able to keep myself awake long enough to finish my intended post, so I shall split this off and post it now. Look for parts two and three tomorrow (likely as a single post).
