    Due in large part to this post (found via this one), I have decided to keep at least a file accompanying my writing to serve as glossary, recording names, descriptions, invented terms etc. as they are added. This shall serve as my reference to ensure details remain consistent or are inconsistent deliberately.
    There is a lot more there. Making progress, a little at a time.

Thank you, that's interesting... especially as I always wondered if they really had to go through and check everything like that (I'm one of the people who notices the inconsistencies, tallies up scales in my head as I read... that sort of thing)

I think what bugs me most is that I cannot fix them once them once the book is in hand. It is good to know a lot of work goes into checking these things though. Perhaps I will be less annoyed next time...

And the typos. And the slightly inconsistent grammar. But then I think how many people it goes through and decide to forgive them. It is an effort...

...or the words that catch your eye as you flip the page. And two pages later you HAVE to go back and check that yes, it did say "...once they reached..."
