I want to draw especial attention to question/answer #5, as well as this quote: "When I'd point out to myself that I couldn't "want to be a man", because I couldn't be sure what "man" actually meant and did not mean, I came back to this list. I wanted to be a tall, flat-chested, muscular, bearded, hairy human being with no uterus and a penis. If that was "man", great. If not, OK. The label for that collection of traits didn't matter." The rest of the essay is worth reading too but I do not intend to quote all of it.

The biological aspects come easy to me -- I trained as a physiologist -- but the social aspects are another story, entirely. I just hope that I can settle even my own questions before I die.
