aesmael: (it would have been a scale model)
As befits my own particular idiom, this month I started keeping track of my writing progress via spreadsheet. As is also fitting, I would have been making weekly progress reports (to the joy of all) if I had not forgotten. So here is an extra long edition to kick things off. If there are no follow-ups, consider this also an extra long farewell edition.

The goal was to write 100 words each day this month. Not of every story, just in total. So far I have definitely managed that overall, if not every day. But at least on each day I wrote I managed my target, except that day with a net loss of 64 words/ So I am feeling pleased. Next month's target: 200 words per day.

Sandamayne:
  • 450 new words
  • 18.75 words/day
  • 450 words total
There are later parts of the story more set in my mind but the beginning is rather fluid. This is likely to undergo substantial revision. Alec's personality also is tending differently to how I had expected - harder, less likeable. I am even tempted to say 'evil'. And, as always, the final length of the story is more an estimate than a target. This one is a serial, there will be future instalments later.

Ravas Florin:

  • 25.33 wirds/day
  • 608 words total
For some reason, the writing of this story did not start where I expected it to. These parts may be discarded when I get a feel for the characters or may be kept for external demands. The writing of Ravas Florin started off slower than Sandamayne but I seem to have found the feel of it quicker. Alas, poor Raven is languishing unstoried while I now work on more deadlined projects.

This is not so much achievement. I am simply transcribing this story from my notebook where I wrote it in my first year at university so that I can edit it later. Not finished yet but the transcription has been put aside until I have a handle on this Epic Fantasy business.

Serial A

This is of course another serial story. The first part has been finished for a while now but I have been sadly neglecting the second.

Far too neglected, poor little story. As often happens unexpected characters become filled with personality. In case you can't tell, this is a first part of a serial story too.

Yep, another serial story. I hope I won't write these too similar or boringly! Or that I will have the good sense to stop when they do.

Poor Sparkle. She has been neglected too, At least she did get some new words this month, even if they are not such great words. This is not a serial story but is part of a small set of linked shorts.

Rametic Xmas Story

Another poor neglected little story. Not so happy but at least, unlike most, I know the rough shape of the whole thing.

Ah yes, the beast that is trying to eat up all my recent writing. I have only been working on it about a week now. It is amusing to note that it is demanding a daily output higher than Jayde required for an entire instalment. It is a whole lot of fun though, probably because Arryn's snarky cynicism is so close to my own voice. That and being familiar with the subject matter. I read a lot of those epic quest fantasies growing up.

I'm surprised! I wasn't expecting to have so much written this month. But, a lot of it is from the Krakkaire story which perhaps should not count.

Interesting. *nods numerically*

As usual, the difference in our process piques my interest.

I wish you continued luck.
