I only sat down to write for a minute and a half or so...

And suddenly it is dawn and I really ought to sleep for a bit.

This has been October 31 for me, the last day of the month and thus the last day I could try to meet the goal I set for myself at the beginning of the month. Over the past week and change I had been largely unable to focus on writing and gone from significantly ahead of my target to a bit behind. Yesterday I only managed 49 words and was displeased with even those ones I did write.

Today I managed to write 707 words, which is more than a hundred more than I needed to make my target. A very pleasant surprise to realise not only have I made my target for the month, not only has this been the single most productive writing day of the year so far - when at first it seemed a struggle to write any words today - but this means I have in October doubled the amount I have written during this year.

This does mean that when I wake it is officially November 1, unlike now when it is only unofficially so. If I want to make an attempt at NaNoWriMo this year, I would be aiming for 1600 words in the first day. I do not believe I will manage this, but if I make a serious attempt I would not be surprised if I found myself finishing Epic Fantasy in a couple of days. (have I repeated that idea often enough yet?)

It is very daunting to think of trying to write so much, especially when I have just made a large achievement for myself which tomorrow might be called 'not quite halfway there', but I shall give it a try.

I think that is about all to say for now. Time to sleep.
