Yesterday was the solstice, longest day of the year. It could be marked as a turning point and right now I am in a mood to regard it as symbolic of transitions.

Last week I finished transcribing Spare Parts from my old notebook into an electronic format. It should now sit some time before editing, just as Krakkaire. Hopefully not too long, but that depends on how I handle my next tasks. I also two nights ago completed my current stretch of work on Discourteous Joe, partly because it is time to halt for now and partly because I do not know what happens next. Those were the two 'major' (I am not sure how that classification is arrived at. perhaps a combination of time spent in my head and amount of work put into it so far and if it is to be thrown away or not. except any story given enough attention also pulls more care onto it [unless it is abandoned?]. ah well)

Now I am in a transitional state, switching focus between those two stories, LJ and my Epic Fantasy. Except so many others are pulling at me, it is difficult to choose. I hope I shall have time for all of them.

In between these phases I am drifting with two stories started last month, Fallback and one untitled. For the purpose of editing, for the purpose of keeping in touch with the spirit of each and for the purpose, perhaps, of seeing a little more of what they are on some days. They each have been the least demanding of those beaks pulling at me lately, so I felt it safe to give them some time. Perhaps it is a trap. One is a part of something larger and the other almost is, has the potential to be. Both could be in themselves large ish stories, perhaps novellas (since I have yet to write a novel, this is large for me).

Whatever they turn out to be, both started out as 'public' stories, posted on my journal as they were after a day or so of writing, and I mean to continue that. What work I do on them, shall be posted as or shortly after it is done rather than waiting for polishing. I consider it an interesting experiment.

I do not feel like I have written much this week even though technically I wrote more than in the previous two weeks this month, perhaps because the vast majority of it was copying words I had already written.

This week in writing:

And now the part I should perhaps have placed at top this post. Some might have noticed a couple of recent posts originating at a denizen's entertainment, especially if you are one who only sees what I write in this context.

Our host, Tess has generously offered me this space to share with her and I have accepted. This means there will be more such posts in future. Surprise! As well as the regular kind of posting, it currently seems likely aDE will play host to my future attempts at fiction. This is in keeping with the site's creative mission.

Fear not to be left behind, people of LiveJournal. There will be some sort of notification, should this dire fate come to pass. Perhaps a lit beacon.

Thank you for reading

It seems it was quite popular about two years ago, but [livejournal.com profile] lost_angelwings showed me this thread in which people have taken Garfield strips and removed Garfield's thought bubbles. It improves the comic greatly.

Later, some people took it a step further and removed Garfield entirely. Poor Jon, delusional and alone.

Since reading through Cat and Girl I have read through a few other webcomics, none of which inspiring enough passion in any direction for me to write about, although they did manage to make me laugh very occasionally. Now I have to go back and change that.

Several days ago I was reading Cheshire Crossing, the comic Andy Weir is working on since Casey and Andy became too unbearable to finish. It so far is not plagued by the problems of his previous comic, perhaps because the cast is almost exclusively female. The art, so derided by all discussion of the comic I have come across, does not bother me - but then I do so often say I am without taste and enjoy things which are terrible.

This is not why I am writing this post. I am writing now because of a scene in the third volume (Cheshire Crossing is released in volumes) which, when I finally realised the reference ruined my nearly successful efforts to get to sleep that morning. Yes, Mary Poppins, water-melted in battle with a Wicked Witch of Oz, is cured by a "spoonful of sugar".
