aesmael: (nervous)
It feels as though there has been a long interruption, but it has been only a few days. It feels as though I have been absent, have wasted weeks, but it was not so long as that. It feels as though I have been losing myself, but I am still here. I think I am.

Well, I have been working. No time for anything else lately, not posting or keeping up with people's journals nor writing nor (most importantly) studying and working on my assignment. But today I am home. Trackwork today and a lack of public transport in the evening makes for a good reason to stay. And on Monday I believe I will quit - I had wanted to stay at least another week so I would know if I could actually do the job but really, it is cutting far too much into what is important. At least today is a lovely day, and hopefully I will actually get something done.
aesmael: (sudden sailor)
I was looking up Neptune's period for my answers to [profile] lantyssa's very helpful questions when I discovered that 2003 UB313 has a name now. It is called Eris and its moon is Dysnomia (Her daughter) for discord and lawlessness respectively. The names fit well, since the discovery of Eris caused so much chaos in theastronomical community (really? well it at the least brought the whole planet or not thing to a head). I like it.

Other tidbits (mostly via Bad Astronomy): Other candidates for dwarf planet status are 2003 EL61 and 2003 FY9, both also out in the Kuiper belt (and there will be many more to come), Pluto now has a minor planet number, 134340, and for those of you who have not heard the news Pluto's two newly discovered moons have had names a while now, they are Nix and Hydra

And now, that ought to be sufficient unwinding. To work!

(Hail Eris)
