I had swallowed that whole line about it not being safe to get to drunk in public without really thinking about it. And I'm not an idiot, I'm a reasonably thoughtful, well read, progressive - until I read your response to that Alrternet article, which I must admit gave me some misgiving when I read it first. It just goes to show how you can internalise ideas like that for years without really thinking about what they imply."

that they see women’s bodies as property. It’s also partly
that the idea of being raped themselves is so horrific and implausible that it’s not even on their radar."
