Scene: A long, grey room filled with long grey chairs arranged around a long - but not grey - wooden table. The carpet is grey and so is the bare rolling landscape outside the very unimaginatively plain window occupying one wall. The sky is available only in black and white (points of light). In fact the only colour to be found in the room apart from the red-polished table had his boots resting on it, leaning back in his seat in a most unapproved manner. He was wrapped in very serious black and, yes, grey as if not to overwhelm the room with too great a contrast. With his wide-brimmed hat (also black, of course) pulled over his face he would have appeared to be sleeping except sleeping people seldom engage in conversation. His interlocutor was not present, their voice came from an intercom resting on the table by his feet.

"Really, there is nothing to be worried about." As befitting the speaker's presentation, his voice had all the time in the world.

    "Nothing?"

"Almost nothing." He gestured magnanimously, for the benefit of no one in particular.

"Well I am worried. Perhaps we should go over this ab ovo. We might have missed something."

"We don't really have time to start at the beginning. If you could keep your face out of the nosebag long enough to pay attention you would know we hadn't."

"Ouch. No need to be so gauche." Silence, then: "When are you going to leave?"

    "Soon."

"You had better. That it must be her is an inalienable fact."

"Soon I said. When I have what I asked for."

"Please. These putative creatures of yours, they must be endothermic to survive in such cold - if they even existed, which they don't - so what good would it do? Precisely none and I won't allow it. It is a waste of resources, and at such a time as this. No."

Beneath the hat, he grinned. "Now who is being didactic? But I do not much care what you say on this. I am inexorable" - here he chuckled - "and I will have my way." He flicked the connection abruptly off with one boot and settled back to nap for real.

Inexorable is when I felt 100% certain this was indeed a "word of the day" exercise. Again with you using tags to hide proper information :)

Inexorable, interlocutor (I had to look that one up!), and "ab ovo", assuming three. Didactic , endothermic both seem bit odd, but did not stand out to me as "why is this in a sentence instead of the word ve would have used?"
