Quick Dispatch From the Field

First of all, I have spent the past couple of days in training for my new job. It was not the barrel of laughs I was promised (we were promised work would be fun right?) but some of the people there were very interesting. Especially a fellow named George who seems to have been tremendous experience and knowledge (trainee not trainer), so hopefully I will come away with much better knowledge of people and the world. Everything is so fascinating! Still, as much as I believe in the product I don't think I will stay with this job any longer than I must.

 In other news the astronomy progress presentation turned out to be less scary than I expected. All I really needed to do was talk about my progress and what I intended for the finished product. No need for a mini-presentation after all.

Work is never fun xD Cuz it's work. Once you get paid to do something, the fun gets sucked right out of it >.>

What is it you do if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind at all. My title is LAN Administrator, although I do almost anything computer related I am needed for, from repairs to upgrades, some programming, software installation, and maintaining our web pages.

In anticipation of the next question: I work in the chemistry department at the University of Houston. I like the low stress levels found in academia.

I'm going door-to-door trying to convince people to switch to renewable energy. Good cause but the pay and hours are lousy - plus they want me as an independant contractor so they don't have to look after my tax or any other benefits.
