Surprisingly the final battle was easy enough I almost didn't notice it in comparison to others (mind, I was playing on an easier difficulty - if I could beat it being harder I don't care to find out).
What I like least about such games are scripted deaths of other characters. I do not like being unable to save people. On the other hand, playing through a second time cheating there was still tension as on the highest difficulty it was not easy to keep all the other marines I was partnered with alive.
My favourite scene was when the player character is captured by the Strogg and vivisected, being strapped down and seeing what happens to the prisoner ahead in line before you yourself are cut apart and reassembled as a cyborg.
It was about midway through my second time round when I realised the only female presence came in the form of ship/pilot communications. Game looks quite good in 640x480 resolution.
