aesmael: (transformation)
Angus & Robertson demands payment from small Australian publishers under threat of not stocking their books.
This is going to backfire badly on them. I was already disappointed with their poor stock (contrast with my excitement at visiting 'real' bookstores) and purchasing Sandman comics from them at $16 more than I would have to pay elsewhere (not including the $8 I would have to pay for train fare into the city, which is still cheaper since I have the time if I want it) merely to send the message to their computers that a wider selection would be more profitable. I said as much to the people working there too.
Now, I think I will not bother. I will take my business elsewhere and let the company die until and unless something happens to change my mind.
Good thing I did not get that job with them after all. That would have been awkward.

Edit: Let's add a little more to that, shall we? I was still waiting for them to stock The Bonehunters by Steven Erikson so that I could purchase it, only to discover a couple of weeks ago that it has already been released in paperback and the following book is already available for sale in other chains and stores. It was already a necessity for me to travel elsewhere to find what I wanted to read in many cases, so avoiding them in future is barely an inconvenience to me at all.
