Today was one of those days in which I head down to return and clean up the toy backlog, so tomorrow doesn't have to deal with it.

This time was a bit easier to get started, as the first librarian I encountered is new and took me at my word when I claimed a need for the key.

Very few items again, leading to finishing up early. Believe that is because we are still early in the year, that it will pick up as time goes by. Am concerned about the state of the toys. The ones I return on Thursdays are nearly always fine to put on the shelves, but the ones I take care of on Tuesdays very rarely are. Most of them are missing enough pieces or other details to need taking to the storeroom for later action - one today had no barcode for me to scan to return it, so I had to ask a librarian on duty to enter the barcode manually. Another container's contents were entirely unrelated to what its labelling and barcode claimed. Mainly, I am worried about these things building up since I am not in a position to fix them, and nor is anyone else for the next several weeks.

Ah well.

Last week I finally got to read to Pazi again. Have been missing doing that for months and months, so it felt good to return to sharing stories with each other. Was also satisfying to at last get to the end of The Austere Academy, so next time we can start on book 6.

A few days ago Pazi returned the favour by reading to me a story from her copy of Northwest Passages. Hopefully this week we will be in a position to each exchange some reading, instead of only one of us being up to per call. Or maybe this is just the way it falls out.

I keep worrying I am being annoying in wanting to share the reading of stories with my loved ones, despite evidence to the contrary. All my words at the moment are coming out fake and hollow, so I doubt I could fairly describe how exciting it is to get to share stories with those I am closest to.
