Arthur, King of Time and Space
- 1640 [I guess he did make up for yesterday's. Missed (posting about) a few of these. Speaking of which, never previously noticed what he did with the title font at the top of the page. Neat!]
Bad Astronomy
Bag End Underhill
- 13 Posts: Finale [Now I wonder what this was the culmination of]
Blue Gal
- OH NO, not more sluts to shame! [I think I do not read her enough, so now I am confused about what is deadpan here and what is serious]
- Pushing Her Away [ :( ]
Butterflies and Wheels
- Religious obligation [Don't know that it's any of my business. The child in question is dead, the family seems under no illusion he is likely to stop being dead. The only matter seems to be the cost to the hospital and healthcare to keep his heart and lungs operating. I suppose there might be some wishes of the now deceased Motl Brody not being respected.]

- [post] [Gah!]
- [post] [I repeat: gah!]
- Macro me? [Cat needs more text]
- [post] [It's the slouching, insouciant posture which brings the smile. Reminds me of Q.]
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
- [post] [This is no more fun than the first time]
Club Troppo
- Temptation [Interesting. Not surprising, but I think it important to test what we are confident in as well as what we doubt. I wonder how widely this does or does not hold up.]
Daylight Atheism
- Jealous Gods [For a moment there I worried this would be a descent into pop evolutionary psychology. This is interesting, I am a bit disheartened by what it suggests for religions more welcoming of diverse opinion, although being reminded of some counterpoints in the comments helps reassure.
Of the point in comments of that Abrahamic God being a sinful God... I think it is important to remember the distinction between envy and jealous. Envy is listed as a deadly sin, and my understanding of the word is it means to covet or desire what one does not have, perhaps what is rightfully not in one's possession. Jealousy, as that God is said to describe Himself as experiencing, relates more to maintaining possession and ownership - God is jealous in that He guards possession of His followers and will punish those who attempt to leave or worship any other. It is claiming ownership rather than wishing for ownership.]
Dynamics of Cats
- direct imaging of extrasolar planets [Deeply fantastic news.]
Errant Story
- 2008-11-14 [Missed a few of these two and to make up for it we haaave: a chapter title page!]
Everything Jake
- #441 [Incorporating Keenspot into a story hosted on Keenspot... interesting.]
- #450 [That relationship troubles me. Which I suppose is an accomplishment for the creator.]
- #456, #457 [Aaand a plot development. These are easier for me to comment on than the general flow of relationships.]
- #458 [Fonts stand out to me. Those new?]
Evolving Thoughts
- The ontology of biology 3 - phenomena [This was an interesting read. I think my position is the same on this, and so it is pleasing to see someone more versed in philosophy articulate it.]
I Can Has Cheezburger?
- basement cat [Stern cat playing with plush ghost? That can work.]
Feministe
- The election's not done yet [That's, uh, that's activism]
In the Field
- ASHG 2008 Kicks off [Very curious about what the cancer genome might show]
Living the Scientific Life : (Scientist, Interrupted)
- 42nd Street Times Square Passageway Subway Art 25 [Neat! I think stuff like this is wonderful.]
- 42nd Street Times Square Passageway Subway Art 25
New Scientist
- Top US court rules for Navy in whale-sonar case [ :-\ This is much more pleasing news.]
- Growing waistline poses weighty risk to health [There has been a big advertising campaing here about waistlines and health too. For anyone who has seen my waist, according to that campaign my waistline is unhealthily large. I shudder to think where the healthy people keep their organs.]
NoGodBlog.com
- Post details: Scott on Radio Show [Forgot I was subscribed to this...]
- Post details: Solstice Bash Update [If anyone wants to go...]
Pam's House Blend
- Ex-Gay Survivors on Dutch TV [No fine words for the torment inflicted to secure compliance.]
- Proposition 8 fallout - Stop whining and stand behind your donations
- Son of Prominent Yes on 8 Leader Quits Mormon Church Over Prop 8
Pat's Fantasy Hotlist
- Jackpot winner! [I did not know about this conversation. Nonetheless, :( for not winning. :P]
- ASOIAF on HBO: It's a go! [Yay! Hoping it will be picked up and done well; my sister and I are very hopeful about this.]
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
- Reminder, again. [Cards and cute seal. Takers?]
Polite Company
- But, From Here... Where? [I'd groan at the quoted remarks. This right-wing terror of Obama seems already to match the worst fears I saw expressed about Bush. A terrorist attack staged by "by those with whom Obama truly sympathizes"? And oh no, he might ]
Scienceblogs
- SfN 2008: Put NIH Row on Your Itinerary [I am glad this is not something currently important for me to do.]
- The Onion or CNN? [Alas]
- New and Exciting in PLoS ONE
- [Such wonderful news. I feel a desire to disconnect from politics and follow science in wonder instead. Feel I cannot, must witness and speak and sometimes take action. But it does not all depend on me, really. And yet I feel I would be derelict to do so, deserving condemnation for being so recklessly callous. It isn't all on me, must remember that, and to attend to myself.]
Science Daily
- Cassini Finds Mysterious New Aurora On Saturn [That's odd...]
Shakesville
Strange Maps
- 329 - Chaffinch Map of Scotland [Beautiful this is]
The Bronze Blog
- Pointless Question #37 [TVTropes. No clicky until this is posted. Maybe not for a few weeks then either. Also, YAY Bronze Dog!]
Ugly Overload
- Dining Mantis [Being a mantid means never having to apologise. See also: first comment.]
Thanks!
Don't ever take what I say too seriously. I never do.
I love that you linked to me and that you're here. A lot of my commenters and detractors last week were there anonymously with no link to any blog or email or anything. I felt really bad about that, because if a feminist can't feel safe to criticize, vent, suggest, or applaud with their own hands, at a four year old blog written by a woman who has pretty much gone public, there's some serious fear there we all have to tackle.

Regarding the 13 Posts thing, that was a series of horror-related posts I did for two weeks following Halloween (because I forgot to do 'em before the holiday).
